Best Sex Writing 2010

Review

This will sound like heresy to some, but fiction can get tedious after a while. Sure, it doesn’t have much in the way of limitations, but like jazz, it can sometimes come across as little more than snazzy masturbation. And it’s also … fiction. Sometimes we crave writing with at least a patina of truth to it. That why this compendium of writing compiled and edited by Rachel Kramer Bussel is so appreciated. Though chock full of made-up stories to keep fiction fans happy, it also features essays that deal with the real world, including fiction. Some of us would rather read essays about annoying vampire sagas than the annoying vampire sagas themselves. Thanks to Ms. Bussel—whose compilations are always entertaining—this is now possible.

Retailing: A great collection of fiction and non-fiction.
