American Ecstasy

American Ecstasy

Review

Barbara Nitke might not be a household name ... yet ... but she is well known in circles where the Golden Age of pornography is a hot topic. A still photographer during the 1980s who worked on at least 300 porn shoots in New York City, Nitke developed a name for having a compassionate perspective on alternative sexuality. Thanks to a successful Kickstarter campaign, Nitke has brought many of those photographs and some of the stories behind them to the general public in American Ecstasy. The coffee table book, which provides an unprecedented look back at what many consider the best time to make and view pornography, is a memoir of the 12 years she spent working on porn sets when actual film was used and performers looked like your neighbors in the suburbs.
