LOS ANGELES—Pop culture porn parody studio WoodRocket has been honored with 14 nominations for the 2017 AVN Awards.
“Thank you so much, AVN! The entire WoodRocket team is so excited and very proud of these nominations,” said Lee Roy Myers, WoodRocket's co-founder.
The studio picked up nominations for Best Marketing Campaign-Company Image, Best Marketing Campaign-Individual Project and Best Alternative Website for Woodrocket.com.
Myers earned a nomination for Best Director-Parody and Best Screenplay-Parody (with Locke Van Kemp) for XXX action-comedy Ten Inch Mutant Ninja Turtles and Other Porn Parodies.
Turtles received seven other nominations as well: Best Parody, Best Supporting Actress (April O'Neil), Best Makeup, Best Soundtrack, Best Special Effects, Best Non-Sex Performance and Most Outrageous Sex Scene (Rizzo Ford, Kassondra Raine and Tyler Nixon in “Strokémon”).
WoodRocket's outgoing POV series Naked in Public also snagged an award nomination for Best Gonzo Movie.
“We have a lot of fun making weird and funny content that we like, but to see that it is appreciated and even celebrated is even weirder to us,” said Myers. “And to see it get honored with AVN nominations is insane.
“Thank you to all of the adult performers and crew members that have gotten weird for us, and the fans that have stuck by us no matter how crazy we get,” added Myers. “And a very special thank you to New Sensations/Digital Sin for distributing our DVDs.”
The 2017 AVN Awards ceremony will take place Jan. 21, at Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Las Vegas, in conjunction with the AVN Adult Entertainment Expo (AEE) Jan. 18-21.
