LOS ANGELES—Talent Testing Service (TTS), has released its October 2024 update showing a slight upturn in positivity rates of sexually transmitted diseases last month.
The report shows the three Chlamydia urine rates exhibiting similar behavior over time, including the steady downward trend from the November 2022 peak. In October, the three rates went up to 1.3 percent, with the total rate from 0.9 percent, the female rate from 1.0 percent, and the male rate from 0.8 percent. With historic levels of 2.0 percent, the current rates being below 2.0 percent can be considered to be within expectations.
The GC (Gonorrhea) Urine Positivity Index showed a total rate rising to 0.4 percent from 0.3 percent, and the male rate at 0.3 percent, up from 0.2 percent; the female rate remained unchanged from a month ago at 0.5 percent. In October, the three rates remain within the trend.
Other results were:
• Trichomonas Vaginalis Urine- Positivity Index: the female rate increased to 0.7 percent from 0.5 percent, the total rate decreased to 0.3 percent from 0.5 percent, and the male rate also dipped to 0.0 percent from 0.5 percent, all within expectations.
• Mycoplasma Genitalium Urine Positivity Index: Two Mycoplasma G. urine rates have gone up to 3.3 percent, the total rate from 2.8 percent, and the male rate up from 1.9 percent while the female rate dropped to 3.4 percent from 3.8 percent.
• Chlamydia & GC (Gonorrhea) Throat and Rectal Swabs Positivity Index: All four tests have December 2022 as a relevant starting point and show overall downward trends. In October 2024, the three Chlamydia rectal rates increased with the female rate at 2.3 percent from 1.7 percent, the total rate at 2.0 percent from 1.3 percent, and the male rate at 1.7 from 0.8 percent The three Chlamydia throat rates also increased, though they continue to be aligned to their general trend with levels at or below 1.0 percent.
Overall, the Gonorrhea rectal swabs continue to show a more volatile behavior than the other three swab tests, although the Chlamydia Throat swab rates are noticeably up for October.
