HOLLYWOOD, Calif.—Yes, DVDs are still selling so it was only a matter of time before Comedy Central's South Park television show was turned into an adult porn parody but even the director and the production company X-Play didn't expect this type of criticism. The movie has only been in stores one week and is already a hit, selling out of the initial DVD run, but while movie reviews are not yet in from professional critics, that didn't stop some folks from voicing their displeasure that the movie was even made in the first place.
"We've had people complain before about some of our more wholesome movies like Not the Bradys XXX, which is our Brady Bunch parody series, and our Cosby Show spoofs but we never expected anyone to freak out about South Park," stated the movie's director Will Ryder.
Ryder pointed out that a select group of people had voiced displeasure that the classic animated television show has been sexualized with porn actors playing the iconic parts of Cartman, Stan, Kyle, Kenny, Mr. Mackey and the South Park girls.
"I hope the guys that made this parody drop dead," wrote one blogger in his note online note.
"Noooo I'm crying how could you do this to me I hope every human that contributed on this dies from HIV," one viewer wrote in all caps on the YouTube page that showcases the movie's trailer.
The somewhat safe-for-work movie trailer can be seen on YouTube and here and will show exactly what the commotion is all about.
"Many of the comments we have received are really positive but we've had a number of people criticizing us for doing this, but this movie is funny as hell and if you like South Park you'll most likely enjoy the porn parody," X-Play co-producer Scott David said.
One person wrote on YouTube, "I am actually kinda surprised this hasn't been done before."
X-Play and its website are clear to point out that this film is a parody. Comedy Central, Trey Parker, Matt Stone, MTV Networks, Tribune Entertainment, Rhino, Parker-Stone Studios their writers/producers, their assignees or anyone more talented than Will Ryder in no way authorize, endorse or sponsor this movie. They didn't make it.
