LOS ANGELES—Riley Reid has been named Best Actress by XCritic for her acting performance in The Cursed XXX.
Reid played the twisted and creepy role of Abigail in the Will Ryder paranormal thriller from Adam & Eve Pictures and has wowed critics with a performance completely out of the ordinary from anything she has ever attempted. Next up is the AVN Awards where the movie is up for nine trophies including Best Action Thriller and Best Screenplay.
“An incredible acting job by Riley Reid and at times, I got scared watching this movie,” wrote Apache Warrior of XCritic.com in his review.
The movie's director had keen insight into the preparation the actress went through in an effort to deliver her best performance.
“I asked her to eat two raw eggs and six ounces of freshly killed deer venison each morning before sunrise in order to move out of her normal acting rhythm,” said writer/director Will Ryder. “She told me to ‘fuck off,’ but sometimes just the mere suggestion is enough to get the best out of these performers.
“Sometimes it's a good thing to step out of your zone and tackle a role that is nothing like what people think you're all about or what they're used to seeing and Riley absolutely nailed my demented vision for this disturbed character with a fantastic, chilling performance,” Ryder continued.
After a fire destroys a women's shelter killing all but one, the sexy dark truth about a cursed Hollywood cam-house is uncovered when a dead girl is found floating in the pool. Scared, beautiful cam girls become fearfully obsessed with new resident Abigail (Riley Reid) and when demonic spirits and paranormal activity invade the mansion, even the LAPD is baffled at finding the killer in a sexy who-dunnit mystery.
“I’m really honored to win the XCritic Best Actress award because this movie is really different from anything I've even done. WillRyder is amazing but I think he might be losing his mind just a little bit because this movie is a long way from those cute, happy, funny movies he's known for,” Reid said.
Riley Reid previously took home some trophies when The Cursed XXX was named First Choice Winner at the NightMoves Awards and also when she teamed up with Ryder and Adam & Eve in the light-hearted award-winning musical Grease XXX which also earned the trophy for Best Parody Comedy at the 2014 AVN Awards.
The Cursed XXX is nothing like Grease and at times is downright terrifying and stars an all-star cast. Joining Riley Reid is Kat Dior, Sarah Vandella, Misty Stone, Holly Hendrix, Nia Nacci, Chloe Scott, Victoria June, Maya Bijou, Ziggy Star, Lucky Starr and Veronica Valentine. The men are Brad Armstrong, Seth Gamble, Chad White, Mike Mancini, Frank Bukkwyd, Connor Kennedy and James Bartholet.
“I absolutely love Riley as she's a complete professional, a director's dream and she performs sex as though it were her final chance ever which sadly for some of us, is an all-to-real possibility but not for her. She's just a talented actress, Ryder said.
