LOS ANGELES—Rachel Steele, adult performer and founder of Red MILF Productions, joined "The Better Sex Podcast" host Deborah Kat for the episode, "Taboo to Truth: Inside the World of Adult Film with Rachel Steele."
In the interview, Steele opened up about her accidental entry into the industry, her evolution as both a creative and performer, and the emotional weight of shame, identity, and desire.
Steele explained, "I got into this industry quite by accident. But I found that I really enjoyed connecting with people through their secret little kink. It was rewarding—it felt like a service."
The conversation explored Steele's transition from secrecy to self-acceptance. After years of staying "under the radar" to protect her family, Steele shared: "Now I actually feel free. I can produce and be who I am, and I can be out there. I’m not closeted anymore."
Steele also reflected on her creative process and her mission to challenge tired formulas in adult film. She added, "I try to pull away from those norms and create more of a storyline so the viewer can be more cerebrally stimulated than just visually."
The episode dove into the impact of censorship, the rise of taboo content, and how real people respond to fantasy with curiosity, not confusion. "I still receive so many emails from people thanking me,” Steele said. “They thought something was wrong with them until they saw how many others shared the same desire."
Kat and Steele also discussed the stigma around adult work, public misconceptions about performers, and the deep importance of creating shame-free spaces for erotic expression. Steele emphasized, "We’re really legitimate and we’re filmmakers. We follow all the rules. We’re just trying to produce entertainment that fulfills fantasies without harming anyone."
