NEW YORK—Payton Sin Claire is once again set to participate in the Polar Bear Plunge in Seaside, N.J., encouraging fans to support her effort.
Each year, the Polar Bear Plunge at Seaside challenges thousands of people from around the state to jump into ice cold water to raise funds for Special Olympics New Jersey. To sponsor Sin Claire’s plunge, click here.
For Sin Claire, a longtime participant of the plunge, the event has a special meaning. “It’s that time of the year again where I jump into the freezing cold water for a very special person in my life, my little brother Jason, who has Asperger’s Syndrome,” she said. “Growing up with a little brother with autism has always been challenging, certain things would set him off and he would have tantrums like any autistic child.
“He had a good day and his bad days. He grew out of some of the quirks he had and was able to go from special education classes to being mainstreamed,” she explained. “Jason did very well in school, my brother never let anything stop him and he later went on to become a veterinarian. I am so proud and honored to call him my brother.”
