Nina Nova Hosts Event for Slain Sex Worker

LAS VEGAS—Nina Nova recently gathered a group of adult performers and sex workers at the Slutty Poolhouse in Las Vegas to remember their late friend, Larissa Garcia, who died last year.

Adult performer Nina Nova organized what she called "The Angelversary" for Garcia, which brought together many of the late sex worker's friends, along with others who had also lost loved ones. They shared stories and reminisced about Garcia's positive personality and ability to connect with others.

Garcia died in June 2024 following an incident that occurred while she was working as a sex worker. According to an arrest report from the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, Garcia met with a client, Jason Kendall, who told police he choked her for approximately 10 minutes, had sex with her, and then left. The incident took place after Kendall had hired Garcia.

At the celebration, attendees wrote messages to their lost loved ones who were sex workers, spoke their names aloud, and released white star-shaped balloons in their honor.

Mistrix Sin said during the balloon release, “I just want to say that I miss Apollo and Larissa, like a lot.”

Apollo Moon was a name that also reverberated among those present, along with Garcia’s name. A beloved transmasc adult content creator, Apollo Moon passed away in November after being hospitalized in an Intensive Care Unit while on life support.

Kendall was initially found unfit to stand trial and was sent to Stein Hospital for treatment. However, in January, he was deemed competent to stand trial. The case is set to go before a judge at 9 a.m. on Sept. 22 in Las Vegas.

”This matters. It matters that we care and that we show up. And that’s all I can ever ask. That we just care, even when it hurts. We’re gonna be there in September," Nova told the crowd of teary-eyed adult performers.

Sex worker advocates have called on the adult industry to pack the courtroom as a show of solidarity and to demonstrate the industry’s commitment to justice for Larissa.
