NEW YORK—Social media influencer, SAG cardholder, and Latina Productions owner Marcela Alonso has created her first short film, On the Air with Ariel, and has started a GoFundMe to submit it to festivals worldwide.
Alonso cast the SAG low-budget project with adult performers and traditional actors. The short film stars Ariel Demure and Dorian Frankel and is directed by Alexander Justin Gonzales. Alonso entirely financed the project through her production company.
To submit the short to various worldwide film festivals, Alonso is seeking to raise funds through a GoFundMe campaign. The costs associated with festival submissions can be significant, and she wants to submit to several festivals to get the short as much exposure as possible.
Said Alonso, "My goal is to help adult performers become a union in the Screen Actors Guild and give adult performers cross-over success to enrich their future endeavors. This has always been a big dream for me to help destigmatize sex work. Donating to the GoFundMe will help me market the film and submit to several festivals simultaneously, and all the money raised will specifically go to this end."
