CHATSWORTH, Calif.—James Deen has announced his participation in HotMovies.com's “FreedomStreams” benefit in support of the Free Speech Coalition (FSC). Deen joins over 100 adult production studios and principals that have agreed to donate their April 15 earnings from HotMovies.com to the industry trade association. HotMovies.com will match the first $10,000 in contributions.
Studio revenues earned April 15 by Deen’s video-on-demand website, a subsidiary of HotMovies.com, will be used to benefit FreedomSreams.
"I am proud to support this industry, especially in a creative way like this," said Deen. "I encourage everybody to check out the movies on HotMovies.com and my VOD site this Monday and support the Free Speech Coalition.”
HotMovies’ first FreedomStreams fundraising event took place in 2006. For three years, the annual event raised thousands of dollars for FSC, which works to protect First Amendment rights on behalf of the entire adult industry. The recent passage of Measure B in Los Angeles County and the introduction of the similar AB 332 in the California legislature motivated the revival of the event.
“We are elated to bring this important event back to life,” said HotMovies Director of Business Development James Cybert. “Our goal is to raise twenty grand, and we are pleased to have James Deen on board to help us reach that goal. Now is the time to do it, as our industry is entrenched in a crucial fight. We need the FSC on the front lines more than ever.”
James Deen has been an active adult performer since 2004 and has appeared in more than 3000 adult productions. He won several awards at the 2013 AVN Awards in January, including Male Performer of the Year.
Deen will appear at the Atlantic City debut of Exxxotica, April 19-21 in the Trump Taj Mahal Casino Hotel. Dubbed the “permanent crush of all straight ladydom” by popular female-oriented site Jezebel.com, Deen promises to be an especially huge draw on the adult expo’s Ladies Free Friday. Deen will meet fans and be available for media interviews all three days at the HotMovies.com booth.
On the mainstream side, Deen is featured in the upcoming film from Paul Schrader and Bret Easton Ellis, The Canyons, with Lindsay Lohan. He is also producing a new mainstream steampunk short film, Cowboys and Engines.
