LOS ANGELES—Holly Randall joined Dr. Constance Penley’s Film and Media Studies class at UC Santa Barbara, bringing her career in adult media, publishing, and production into an academic setting.
During the visit, Randall spoke with students about her work across adult entertainment and independent media, from her years behind the camera to her recent publishing work.
She was also interviewed by several students, who asked about the industry and Wet Ink magazine, her creator-driven publication focused on culture, ownership, and storytelling within adult media. Penley, a longtime UCSB Film and Media Studies professor and founding director and past co-director of the Carsey-Wolf Center, hosted the discussion.
Having gone to school in Santa Barbara and later graduating from UCLA, she described the experience as both an honor and a full-circle moment.
Randall explained, "Santa Barbara is a meaningful place in my life, so getting to come back and have this kind of conversation in an academic setting felt incredibly special. I also loved how engaged the students were, especially their questions about Wet Ink and where media, authorship, and adult culture intersect."
