VALENCIA, Calif.—Lesbian adult film studio Girlfriends Films was a winner at the AVN Awards adult industry gala held in Las Vegas on Saturday, January 21. Long-running series Women Seeking Women from Girlfriends was named Best All-Girl Series, and the award for Best Older Woman/Younger Girl Movie went to Mother-Daughter Exchange Club 44.
This marks the third AVN Award for a Mother Daughter Exchange Club title since its debut in 2008. The popular older/younger all-girl series had previously won Best Older Woman/Younger Girl Release in 2011 and 2012. The winning title this year, Mother-Daughter Exchange Club 44, featured the debut of AVN Best New Starlet nominee Anya Olsen in her first of many roles with Girlfriends. In a press release promoting the film’s debut, director and Girlfriends Films founder Dan O’Connell had expressed his feelings about his first shoot with the new starlet saying, “[Anya] is terrific! She was paired with Raquel Sieb, who always gives a great performance. This scene will probably go down in the books as one of the (if not THE) best scenes I’ve ever shot.”
Featured in the winning film in addition to Anya Olsen and Raquel Sieb was Tanya Tate, AVN nominee for All-Girl Performer of the Year, paired with Cadence Luxe, along with Charlotte Cross, Karen Fisher, Bree Daniels, and Mindi Mink. Moose, president of Girlfriends Films, expressed his excitement over the news. “We’re approaching the tenth year of production for the Mother-Daughter Exchange Club, and it’s still fresh and engaging for the fans and the viewers. Dan O’Connell and a talented cast and crew came together to make this film something really special, and we are thankful to AVN for recognition of all the hard work that has gone into the series and this episode.”
With the announcement of the 2017 AVN Awards Best All-Girl Series winner, Women Seeking Women retains its designation as “most awarded series in the history of adult films,” a record set nearly one year ago. The newest installment in the series entitled Women Seeking Women 137 features 2017 AVN Best New Starlet winner Holly Hendrix in her debut with Girlfriends Films. The movie, released in stores nationwide on January 13, is now available on DVD.
Girlfriends Films received a total of 12 nominations at AVN this year, including three additional Best All-Girl Series nominations for Cheer Squad Sleepovers, Mother-Daughter Exchange Club, and Net Skirts. Also nominated were Lesbian House Hunters 13 for Best All-Girl Movie, and Brooklyn Chase, Lilly Evans and Natalia Starr in Lesbian Love Stories 8: Partner Exchange for Best All-Girl Group Sex Scene.
