LOS ANGELES—Dr. Susan Block delivered her fifth annual 2025 State of the Sexual Union address on April 5, which served as a "rebuttal" to President Donald Trump. Dr. Block delivered the address through Active Radio with host Hartley Pleshaw on WCAP-AM 980, and it is now available on most platforms.
“Where the State of the Sexual Union (SOTSU) is concerned, no one is better qualified to deliver it than America’s leading sexologist, America’s #1 sex therapist and sexpert, Dr. Susan Block,” said Pleshaw of the address. In her SOTSU, Block discussed key issues that she has identified as impacting the United States and sexuality.
- "State of Disunion": Dr. Block identified what she called a "disunion" among people. She notes, "rising authoritarian repression, blatant hypocrisy, and a neo-Puritanical, fascistic, misogynistic, ecocidal emphasis on sex as procreation, not recreation."
- "Bonobo Caregiving": "Hartley opened the next segment with Marvin Gaye's iconic 'Sexual Healing,' moving Dr. Suzy to open up about what she’s learned hands-on regarding the importance of erotic touch to Max’s healing and to healing the world."
- "Suzy vs. Meta": Dr. Block also addressed her ongoing litigation against Mark Zuckerberg, the chief executive officer of Meta Platforms, which owns Facebook and Instagram. She accused Meta in litigation that Zuckerberg's social media algorithms are "anti-sex" and serve as "censorship by bot."
- "The Billionaire Mind Virus": Dr. Block also mentioned her recent opinion column for Counterpunch. She titled the column, “Fighting the Billionaire Mind Virus: In the Ring with Zuck the Snake & On the Range with Musk the Boring Boer-Loving Wild Boar."
- "Trump Speech Isn’t Free": Dr. Block also responded to claims by President Trump that he "brought back Free Speech in America." Block also responded, "Trump Free Speech is about as free as a seat next to him at Mar-a-Lago Sunday brunch. And slap a tariff on that.”
- "State of Palestine": Dr. Block blasted Trump and the Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, further criticizing what she calls "Trump's Zionist alliances as disingenuous, profit-driven, cruel, and bloody."
- "Jews with Opposing Views": Dr. Block described herself as a “Jew for Palestine” during her address. She was invited to appear on the "L'Chaim" podcast on May 2.
- "Liu, Hedges, De Sade": At the end of her address, she spoke of Catherine Liu and Christ Hedges discussing the Marquis de Sade on Hedges' podcast.
- "A Make-Love-Not-War Future": Dr. Block concluded that she wants to create a future that doesn't support the "elevation of violent aggression."
