NEW YORK—Dirty Magazine has released its BOY issue, featuring essays, art, fashion, interviews, and a cover story on adult performer Reno Gold. The issue explores contemporary masculinity, posing the question: "What if masculinity could be more than domination, more than performance—what if it could be care?"
Dirty publisher Ripley Soprano wrote, "Without a model of masculinity rooted in vulnerability, autonomy, and play, boys are left to fend for themselves in a world that teaches them to harden or disappear."
Gold shared, "It was never just about the money. It was about honing my skills and figuring out other humans."
Sober, self-possessed, and straddling the line between OnlyFans royalty and mainstream ambition, Gold reflected on intimacy, power, and his future on screen. He added, "What’s life without being witnessed?"
Gold opened up in an intimate feature about his first time feeling seen. He revealed, "The attention I got was the first time I felt special."
Gold has been working on his path to sobriety. He shared, "Been there, done that."
Gold also revealed his philosophy on sex work and self-worth. He expressed, "I realize my own value, regardless of how I make money, but sometimes others don’t. They don’t understand how separate real sex and work sex are for me."
At a time when ideologies prey on male insecurity, the BOY issue shared its response. Soprano concluded, "Rather than discarding masculinity altogether, we’re offering one that is fluid and multifaceted. Uninterested in domination (outside of the bedroom), open to absurdity, grounded in play."
The BOY issue of Dirty Magazine also features the 2020s All-American Man; appearances by graffiti writer FUCT D30; pornstar Small Hands; cult filmmaker Sean Price Williams on his vintage porn collection; Spun writer Will De Los Santos; electro legends Boy Harsher; Analog Cruising author Leo Herrera; "NYC Clout Guy" and artist Jean-Luc; writer Matthew Donovan on his experience de-transitioning; former soldier–turned–bank robber–turned–novelist Nico Walker on the masculine drive to be at war; The Sluts author Dennis Cooper; incarcerated journalist John J. Lennon; artist and designer Cali Dewitt; a photo editorial of straight boys kissing; and an op-sec survival guide for adult industry workers.
