Dirty Magazine Enlists NYC Dominatrix for Free Copy Stunt
NEW YORK—Independent publication DIRTY Magazine took an unconventional approach to distribution this week, enlisting fetish professional and artist Sabine Tautou to hand out copies of its new "Free New York" issue from the shuttered entrance of a public restroom on Delancey Street.
Under a hand-painted sign reading “Free Porn 18+,” Tautou transformed the closed public facility into a temporary adults-only newsstand, taping copies of DIRTY, the adults-only magazine, to a consenting submissive for passersby to take.
The stunt is part of DIRTY Magazine's distribution campaign for Issue 13, "Free New York," which is being given away for free both online and at locations and events throughout New York. New Yorkers can currently pick up free copies across Lower Manhattan at Frank’s Chop Shop, Fugazi, LAAMS, Cafe Forgot, Beverly's Bar, Labor Skate Shop, London Fetish, and in Brooklyn at Quimby’s, Yough to Go and HOMERUN. Copies are available while supplies last.
The issue combines fashion, sex, politics, skateboarding, and New York subculture, with covers featuring actress Ivy Wolk, pornstar Vanniall, and comedian/Jackass star Rachel Wolfson, alongside contributions and features from Molly Crabapple, Imani Thompson, MegSuperstarPrincess, HiLoveNewYorkOJ, and others.
The issue’s premise is both literal and editorial: give the magazine away and ask what a freer New York might actually look like.
