CHICAGO—After a sold out performance of his critically acclaimed solo comedy show “Near Sex For Work" in Chicago, ATMLA’s resident non-sex actor Daniel Shar returns for an encore at 7 p.m. on Aug. 7 at The Den Theatre, 331 N. Milwaukee Ave, Chicago, IL 60622.
From his years as a virginal dildo salesman to his current role as one of porn’s few always-clothed side character actors, “Near Sex For Work” takes audiences on a 60-minute roller coaster ride into the world of a non-sex performer. Tickets range from $20 to $69 and are available here.
The show received a nomination for Best Comedy & Variety Act after a sold-out run and encore at the 2025 Hollywood Fringe Festival, where it received praise from Allen Salkin of The Hollywood Reporter, who said, “I laughed so much I almost had an asthma attack… go see it.” The Comedy Bureau chose the show as one of 2024’s Best Things, calling it “one hell of a comedy gold mine.”
The show was up for Mainstream Venture of the Year at the 2025 AVN Awards, where Shar also received a nomination for Best Non-Sex Performance for his work in the Adult Time feature BIRTH. Shar received another Best Non-Sex Performance nomination in 2026, thanks to his work in Vixen’s 5-part feature The Blueprint, and was also honored to have scenes in the 2026 Grand Reel winner Strip.
