LOS ANGELES—Cherie DeVille was featured recently in a new piece for Metro UK, titled "This Industry Isn’t for the Faint of Heart: What it’s Like Being Married to a Porn Star," told through the perspective of her partner.
The article highlighted how outsiders often question or criticize the idea of being in a relationship with an adult entertainer, but John (not his real name) shared a different truth, explaining what first drew him to DeVille.
John said, "It was her confidence, honesty, and the way she owns her life and career." Together, they maintain what he calls "A very clear understanding of the difference between her work and [their] relationship."
Trust and communication, he emphasized, are the foundation of their bond. "We would call ourselves emotionally monogamous and ethically non-monogamous," John added, underscoring the healthy balance between DeVille’s personal life and her professional career.
Most importantly, he challenged the stereotype that adult performers can’t have fulfilling, lasting partnerships.
John concluded, "What I wish more people understood is that being in the adult industry does not mean someone is less deserving of love or a strong relationship. Cherie is thoughtful, funny, loyal, and one of the most grounded people I know. What we have is real because we are both honest about who we are and what we need from each other."
