AdamEve.com Asks 'Has Anyone Ever Sexted You?' in Survey

HILLSBOROUGH, N.C.—Adam & Eve and adameve.com have conducted its annual sex survey, asking more than 1,000 adults if they had ever received a "sext" from anyone.

"Sexting," or sending a nude or sexually explicit photo, message, or video via text, email, app, or webcam, is a popular way to flirt, experiment, find excitement, signal trust or maintain a feeling of intimacy while in a long-distance relationship, the survey said.

When asked, 73 percent of the males and 54 percent of the females polled said they had received a nude photo or video via text or email, while only 22 percent of the males and 41 percent of the females said they had never been sexted. Just over five percent of the respondents refused to answer.

Adam & Eve resident sexologist Dr. Jenni Skyler said, "Sexting can be a fun, exciting way to flirt or stay connected in a romantic relationship. While couples should discuss their comfort levels and expectations with sexting, unsolicited nudes or videos sent without your consent are never acceptable. I encourage participants to avoid showing their faces or including identifying characteristics such as scars, tattoos, jewelry, or their location."

Chad Davis, director of marketing for Adam & Eve, added, "Adam & Eve encourages adults to celebrate their sexuality within their own comfort levels. We are happy to provide a variety of toys, lubricants, and accessories to enhance any relationship at any stage."
