LAS VEGAS—Naughty Tweet CEO Pete Housley has issued a caution to the adult industry, warning that some companies and performers may be in violation of Twitter's terms of service and SPAM guidelines.
In a statement, Housley said that the Naughty Tweet network, of which PornStarTweet.com is part of, is "actively developing methods to detect and penalize accounts who violate the rules established by Twitter; including some new ranking technology, downgrading and possibly delisting accounts found abusing the rules." Housley mentioned that numerous adult accounts are under investigation for "cheating the system."
Housley has spoken on many mainstream and adult industry panel discussions on social media about using Twitter as an effective marketing tool, while warning against violating its TOS.
“We’re a strong supporter of the adult industry; SPAM has done nothing to help this industry only created roadblocks and hurdles for all of us who attempt to run good businesses," Housley said. "We realize that some may not know the rules and are merely trying to increase their impact through social media, which is why we’re issuing this warning.
"Twitter has been a great resource to the adult industry while other networks have censored and blocked adult. Twitter has rules that are simple and straightforward. It is our responsibility as an industry to not sabotage ourselves and adhere to the spirit and purpose of social media. As a company we wholeheartedly support Twitter and the rules they have set forth and will do everything within our power to see the adult industry is allowed to continue to participate and thrive through social media.”
