WOODLAND HILLS, Calif. — Depth Entertainment Family, producer of interracial and ethnic titles including Anacondas and Lil' Mamas, Vanilla Cakes and Spinal Tap, inked a deal with UK-based mobile content distributor, The Vertigo Agency.
Vertigo allows producers and studios to make their movies available to mobile devices with high speed data connections. The company's Mpex (Mobile Portal Exchange) platform works across cell phone providers and is available now in the UK, South Africa and Spain. It will also be available in the rest of the world shortly via a new billing connection with Bango.
"There's a lot of companies that are promising to do in the future what Vertigo is doing now," John E. Depth, critically acclaimed performer, director and owner of Depth Entertainment Family, said. "I'm impressed with their service and how it'll open up a new revenue stream for my company. It also gives me entry into foreign markets in a format besides DVD."
Dean Butler, cofounder of The Vertigo Agency, added that his company looks forward to bringing Depth's movies to a new audience.
"There's really no viable way for American producers to get their content on mobile phones in the states," he said. "The cell companies won't touch anything X-rated. But there's no such barrier in most of the world. We're up and running and making our partners money now."
