BEND, Ore.—Lisa Lawless, Ph.D., founder and CEO of Holistic Wisdom, Inc., was recently diagnosed with endometrial cancer. In response, she has written a deeply personal piece “exploring what it means to live with purpose, speak the truth, and hold space for both fear and hope,” a representative said.
Dr. Lawless, a longtime advocate for mental health and holistic wellness, is known for helping others navigate life’s hardest moments with compassion and clarity. Now, she is said she is using that same voice to speak from the heart about her own journey in her newest piece, titled, "What Facing Cancer and the Reminder of Death Brought Up for Me."
In the post she opens up about her diagnosis, the emotional weight of mortality, and the love that continues to guide her through it all.
As Lawless prepares for surgery and continues treatment, a GoFundMe campaign has been launched to help support her during this time, where those who wish to can contribute and follow her journey through the fundraiser.
“When I found out I had endometrial cancer, I didn’t expect the first thing to come up would be this deep need to talk about death,” she said in the post.
“Not in a heavy or hopeless way, but in an honest and human one. As a psychologist and now a cancer patient, I’ve seen how powerful it can be to name what we’re going through. And what I’ve learned is that when we stop pretending, we start living more fully,” Lawless continued.
“This piece is from my heart. It’s for anyone who’s fighting, anyone who’s wondering what comes next, and anyone who just needs to feel a little less alone.”
