Ondato Age Verification Receives NIST Certification

LONDON, U.K.—Ondato, a provider of identity and age verification solutions, has been certified by the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), reinforcing its commitment to delivering secure and compliant solutions for a global clientele.

In the recent Face Analysis Technology Evaluation (FATE) conducted by NIST, Ondato was evaluated for its age estimation and age verification technology. NIST assessed accuracy, consistency across demographics, reliability, FPRs (False Positive Rates), and adaptability.

The certification affirms that Ondato’s platforms and processes are designed to protect sensitive information, mitigate security risks, and comply with evolving regulatory requirements.

In the evaluation, Ondato received consistent scores for four MAE (Mean Absolute Error) datasets, earning NIST’s certificate. This demonstrates Ondato’s ability to handle a wide range of image types (mugshots, visa photos, and border crossings), as well as minimal bias in age estimation across demographics and global diversity. The NIST analysis also points out Ondato’s low false positive rates and strong accuracy.

“Achieving the NIST certification is a testament to our relentless focus on security and innovation,” said Liudas Kanapienis, CEO and co-founder at Ondato. “This accomplishment provides our customers with greater assurance that their data is protected by one of the most advanced and secure age verification systems on the market. We will continue to lead the way in delivering trusted solutions for businesses navigating digital transformation.”

The NIST certification highlights Ondato’s adherence to cybersecurity and data protection protocols, ensuring that its solutions meet set standards for secure age verification processes. Businesses using Ondato can rely on fewer false positives or negatives, a company representative said. NIST is internationally recognized for establishing measurement standards, including critical guidelines for information security and data integrity.

Ondato’s age verification technology has also been approved by KJM, Germany’s Commission for the Protection of Minors in the Media, which verified that Ondato fulfills all legal and technical age verification requirements.
