LOS ANGELES—Judge Herb Dodell, host of the news and law talk show "For The People," has welcomed attorney, author, and activist Micha Star Liberty to the show. Liberty represents survivors of sexual abuse, sexual harassment, and sex trafficking.
The two discussed the realities of human trafficking in today’s world; how politics and policy shape justice for survivors; the legal system’s challenges and ongoing reforms; and Liberty's journey as a dedicated attorney for survivors of violence.
Said Dodell, "This episode sheds light on urgent issues at the intersection of law, politics, and human rights. We started out requesting Micha to discuss Jeffrey Epstein, but we ended up with an episode that gave us so much more. There’s so much to learn about human trafficking, especially done through the internet these days, the innocent and underage are sadly easy targets."
As a lawyer, Liberty has worked with trauma survivors for more than two decades, helping them find their voice, assert their rights, and reclaim their freedom. Many of her clients hold their stories close, reluctant to confront the past or reveal their pain.
