LONDON—Last Friday night, JOYClub was set to host a private screening and networking event for sex-positive educators, including Ally Iseman, Dr.Tara, Reed Amber, Bea Dux, Ruby Rare, Scotty Unfamous, and Topher Taylor.
The booking was confirmed weeks in advance, but despite testing the film days earlier, the cinema cancelled the event just 103 minutes before it was set to begin.
“We understand that sex education content is not to everyone’s taste," said Stephan Strehlow, chief marketing officer for JOYClub. "But to cancel a private, consensual, 18+ educational event at the last minute is more than disappointing—it is censorship. Sex education keeps being censored, not just online, but offline too."
What could have ended in disaster instead turned into a community coming together as the JOYClub hosted an improvised gathering. The invited sex educators and influencers were regrouped at a new venue, turning the abrupt cancellation into a rallying point.
The film can now be seen for free here. All JOYClub sex education videos are available here.
