FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla.—Rocco Steele guests on HFF Media's "Brolapse," the long-running podcast hosted by Ryan James.
In the episode, Steele speaks candidly about his gradual decision to step back from the adult industry, the health scare that reshaped his priorities, and the boundaries that allowed him to maintain sobriety, privacy, and a long-term marriage throughout his career.
“This wasn’t about nostalgia or spectacle,” James said. “It was about giving Rocco the space to speak as a full human being, not a brand. He trusted me with that, and I don’t take that lightly.”
The conversation also revisits Steele’s only fisting scene, filmed as part of the original launch of HungerFF.com. "The discussion places the moment in context not as shock value, but as an example of trust, timing, and creative autonomy between two performers at pivotal moments in their careers," James said.
Steele also reflects on fame, fan projection, chosen family, and the emotional labor of being “on” for more than a decade. He discusses rediscovering to long-abandoned creative passions, including painting, and embracing a quieter, more grounded life.
“Rocco represents the end of an era where porn stars were truly stars,” James added. “This episode isn’t a goodbye so much as an honest reckoning with what it means to step away—and what comes after.”
The episode coincides with James’ forthcoming memoir, Deeper, which chronicles addiction, identity, sex work, survival, and the psychological cost of living as a public persona. The book recently reached the #1 spot in its category on Amazon. Deeper is available for pre-order here.
