Self-made and self-taught, Kim Kysar’s path to her current position at the helm of a thriving adult entertainment studio has taken many unexpected turns. Determination, hard work and an unyielding self-confidence gave Kim all the tools she needed to go from being a homeless teenager to a successful and respected businesswoman.
A healthy, adventurous interest in sex led Kim to an interest in porn, a curiosity that blossomed before she was old enough to legally explore that interest, Kim confides. That same inquisitiveness, combined with a splash of audacity and generous dose of earthy eloquence, makes Kim a sought-after speaker at adult entertainment events, and frequent subject of media inquiries and interviews.
Kim notes with pride that her ascent in the business world has been accomplished without the benefit of extensive education, or the sort of personal or familial connections that one often finds at the root of some corporate success stories. At the age of 16 Kim earned a California High School Proficiency Certificate (the California equivalent of a GED), from there, she hit the streets with nothing except a pillowcase of clothes and her wits to spend a year living on the streets of Palm Springs with occasional adventures to Los Angeles. She later earned a trade school certificate in Business Management & Accounting, but her real education has always come on the job, and on the fly.
Prior to coming to work for Pink Visual, Kim wrote a ‘sexploits’ column for CrimsonAndCherry.com called Slut Girl Blues “until a very happy marriage put an end to said sexploits,” as Kim puts it. The sexploits may have ended there, but Kim’s interest in sex and erotica did not, and before long she found herself working in a support capacity within the marketing department at Internet porn company, Cyberheat. When Cyberheat created Pink Visual as a brand to market its content on DVD, Kysar was quickly tapped to run the operation, having proven herself to be an organized, driven, detail-oriented person, the ideal mix of traits needed to guide the upstart brand though the challenges that face any fledgling venture.
Under Kim’s skillful supervision, Pink Visual has transformed from an ancillary product division for an online porn company that had modest goals for its DVD line, into a full-fledged company in its own right. Pink Visual has become synonymous with innovation, production excellence and business acumen with few peers in the wide landscape of the adult entertainment industry.
A restless and relentlessly active woman, Kim is also active in the increasingly popular sport of Roller Derby. She founded Tucson Roller Derby, only the third bouting flat track league in the country, and the first to obtain 501(c)(3) status, making the league a public charity that supports Women's Flat Track Derby Association, and women’s amateur sports, generally.
