Damon Dice was starting a technology company out of college and "Carter Cruise was a college friend and one of my first interns. As a startup we didn't have a lot of money, so she and I webcammed to raise money for the startup. She started doing amateur shoots in Florida and got into the industry. One thing led to another, she moved to L.A. and her career took off, and I was still in the Carolinas doing tech. I met some people through her and decided I kind of like this porn thing."

His first scene was a blowbang with Sara Luvv for Spizoo. "I was told 'If you can make it through this, you can make it through anything.' They put me through the wringer." In the year and a half since, he has performed in some 300 scenes. "The past three months, I'm shooting 20-25 days a month. When I first started out, I was shooting once every two weeks. I was thinking of quitting the industry because I shot once in the month of July—I'm not making any money, I have all this technology experience and background—and my agent said, 'Tough it out, you'll get there.' I stuck with it, and with word of mouth and doing good shoots, I'm working a lot."

He has attended AVN Adult Entertainment Expo the last three years. When asked how it's changed in that time, Dice says "I know a lot more people. When I first went there, I was just another face in the crowd. Now I'm working with people that I've been watching their work, like Stormy Daniels and Asa Akira and Jesse Jane. It's mind-boggling from where I was five years ago." That first year at Adult Expo, he accompanied Cruise to the AVN Awards, "and she was just a couple of months into the industry. I was just a spectator. They gave out Best New Starlet and she was like, 'I want that to be me next year.' I told her: 'Keep doing your thing. You have it in you.' And she got it. She's like my little sister."

He's been doing features in the last few months, for Penthouse, Hustler and Wicked. He doesn't have an acting background: "I'm learning as I go. I've always been good at improv and learning dialogue. I'm always learning and picking up from other people. I was on Stockholm Syndrome and Steven St. Croix was in the cast and he was giving me pointers and I was watching him. Watching someone like that, you really get to learn how it works. I was a collegiate athlete, so I'm used to being coached, and training and learning, so I take that mindset into porn. I need to train, I need to be in shape, I need to be prepared."

Dice says he likes that "I can create my own pathway in what I do. A lot of my friends back home are set in their 9-to-5 jobs. I can set my own hours, I can decide what companies I want to work with, I can really dictate my advancement in my own career based on my hard work."

The tech company still exists, but it's dormant right now. "I still have the trademarks and the infrastructure. I can get back into it, or I have the option to sell." As far as his adult career, Dice says "I don't have a goal or an endgame, I just go day by day. Try to do the best I can at what I'm doing now, and see where it takes me. I could be in porn five years from now, maybe ten years. I could produce. I don't know if it's a lifetime thing for me or it's just something I'm doing now."
