Since its initial announcement about the Hex, LELO officials have claimed it is the first significant change to condoms in more than 70 years. In development for more than a dozen years, the Hex is a latex condom that boasts a different type of construction. LELO officials noted it was never the materials that were the problem with condoms, but rather the construction and design. The designers at the Swedish-based manufacturer were inspired by graphene, known to be one of the strongest and thinnest materials on the planet. Hex mimics the honeycomb structure of graphene, which allows the latex to mimc graphene. The texture is on the inside of the condom, which helps to prevent slipping and breakage.
