Zupko Stays At Elegant Angel; Starts Gonzo Series

Fresh after winning the award for Best International Director at the 2003 Barcelona Erotic Film Festival, Thomas Zupko has chosen to stay with Elegant Angel, a reversal of his decision last month to leave the adult studio.

Zupko, best known for his off-beat features, such as his recent Opera, a videothat features a real opera singer in a non-sex role, will produce two gonzo lines for the company, the first of which is called B.W.A. (Big Wet Ass).

B.W.A. stars Katja Kassin, Ana Nova, Rhiannon Bray, Holly Day, Gia Paloma, Rosanna de la Vega and Mick Blue and will be released in early January.

“It’s a tribute to the ass. It’s one of the few things that I’ve watched that I’ve shot that makes me just want to pick up my dick and stroke it,” Zupko told AVN.com “ The series will be about gorgeous girls with big round asses, drenched in vegetable oil, every position literally paying homage to the female ass - it was great shit. “

Zupko actually began his career in adult with the gonzo Anal Ball, released in 1997 by Evil Angel.

The second gonzo line has yet to be decided upon. Zupko also recently completed a scene for Sodomania 41 that apparently sealed the deal for his return to the Elegant Angel fold. Part of the reason why Zupko had announced his departure from Elegant was that they were returning to their roots, with an emphasis on gonzo production.

"Zupko really amazed me with the scene he shot for Sodomania 41.  People really underestimate the guy.  I'm very happy he decided to stay with us," said Elegant Angel owner Patrick Collins.

Not that Zupko’s feature days are over. He’ll be shooting three features a year – the first of which will start in January when he will begin production on a big-budget feature that will be co-directed with Collins.

The feature will be a Western with an 80-page script that Zupko has been polishing for the last six years. William H. and Glenn Barren will be the directors of photography for all the sex scenes and Michael Cates will helm the overall cinematography

"Patrick is giving me the biggest budget I have ever had in my entire career.  I'm really looking forward to this project," Zupko said.
