Just a little over a week prior to the release of Opera, the feature that Thomas Zupko wrote and directed, Elegant Angel has announced that the director will be leaving the company. Zupko intends to shoot one last scene for the company before concentrating on shooting for his own Thomas Zupko Productions.
Zupko’s departure follows close on the heels of Axel Braun, who served as general manager of Elegant Angel for most of this year until he left last week. Both directors are more interested in features than the gonzo orientated fare that Elegant Angel owner and acting general manager Patrick Collins considers his company’s core competency.
“He [Zupko] wants to focus on features and Patrick Collins wants to return to the company to its roots producing gonzo,” Elegant Angel publicist Kennedy told AVN.com
Zupko had signed a one-year contract to direct for Elegant Angel in May.
On September 25, Elegant Angel will release Opera, a feature that Zupko describes as his magnum opus.
Opera is an existential morality play about an aspiring opera singer who descends into the depths of heroin addiction and betrayal. The feature showcases the talents of Allen Rene, a classically trained opera singer who plays the opera singer as a non-sex role. Opera also stars the '90s anal queen Papillon in what is being billed as her "comeback performance."
Zupko will reportedly shoot one more scene for Elegant Angel, a scene for Sodomania All Star Jam 2, before concentrating on making features for Thomas Zupko Productions.
