ROSEMONT, Ill.—Classic XXX star and AIM founder Sharon Mitchell will make a rare appearance at this weekend’s Exxxotica Expo, the adult industry fan expo to be held April 10-12, at the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center, in Rosemont, Illinois.
Mitchell was at the airport when she told AVN, “I made it—just landed can’t wait to see all my fans. It’s my first time back in Chicago in 39 years.” She added that, tonight, she will attend a private get-together at the host hotel with other stars who will also appear at the “Jizz Talking” podcast booth at Exxxotica.
Mitchell joins a lineup of actresses who span the adult film and video eras, including Lynn LeMay, Dyanna Lauren, Leslie Winston, Melissa Hill, Lisa Sparxxx and Lisa Cintrice, as well as starlet Heather Bonanza.
Mitchell began her career in the mid-‘70s, as a member of the “Porno Chic” generation of performers, starring alongside legendary figures including Vanessa Del Rio, Long Jean Silver, Gloria Leonard, Hershel Savage, Eric Edwards, John Leslie and Jamie Gillis, among others. She has more than 750 credits, including classic titles like Water Power (1976) and The Devil In Miss Jones (1985).
In 1998, in response to the industry’s first incidences of HIV infection amongst performers, Mitchell founded Adult Industry Healthcare (AIM), which was the first nonprofit healthcare organization to offer comprehensive STI/HIV testing for performers, when early testing standards were implemented for production work. Mitchell is widely credited for her work in performer education, STI testing and healthcare advocacy, eventually earning an MA and PhD.
