The man who brought the world Pornholio eight years ago debuted his Adult set-top box technology at Internext.
Dave Koenig’s XTV, which streams Adult content through a broadband Internet connection to hardware that connects to a television, is already receiving quite a bit of mainstream media interest. Koenig said he already has interviews lined up with the likes of CNN and MSNBC at the Adult Entertainment Expo.
“This is the first of its kind. No one has ever done anything like this,” Koenig told AVNOnline.com.
XTV’s box sells for $179 and the service goes for $29.99 a month. Subscribers currently have three content options – 50 live channels viewable any time, pay-per-view, and interactive content, which comes from holio.net. The content is a mix of Internet-produced and movies broadcast through partnerships XTV has with various Adult studios.
Since the content is broadcast via the Internet, XTV doesn’t have to adhere to the FCC rules that govern TV content.
“We’re pretty much going to be the FCC’s worst nightmare,” director of marketing Fabian Citraro joked.
XTV has been in development for two years and is currently still in beta. However, Citraro said the company will begin shipping boxes in February.
Live channels feature various fetishes that customers can peruse via an on-screen guide much like those provided by cable companies. A pay-per-view movie, once purchased, is always available to the customer, as long they remain an XTV subscriber.
For Koenig, the venture is the next step in the evolution of the Adult medium.
“This is where (Adult) has to go,” he said.
For Webmasters, the company also has an affiliate program offering $35 to $45 per signup and 10 percent on Webmaster referrals.
