Woman Sues Red Light, Stapp Over Sex Tape

A Florida woman, identified only as Jane Doe in documents, has filed a lawsuit against Red Light District and rocker Scott Stapp over a sex tape said to show her giving oral sex to Stapp and Kid Rock.

In a complaint filed last Thursday, the woman claims she has suffered emotional distress and had her privacy invaded when the sex tape was acquired by Red Light District.

The tape is said to show four women engaging in oral sex with the two rockers on a tour bus near Miami in 1999.

Red Light attorney Ray Tamaddon said he had not seen the lawsuit, but said, "we don't believe the law recognizes invasion of privacy claims when you're having sex with rock stars in a room full of people."

Attorneys for Kid Rock sued Red Light on Feb. 21 claiming the tapes were stolen after the company announced it had obtained the tapes from a third party. The suit seeks a permanent court order banning the sale or distribution of the tape.

A federal judge approved an injunction at the time, barring Red Light from selling or marketing the tape until a hearing is held later this month.

Scott Solomon, the woman’s lawyer, said in the complaint that the woman is a student from Miami who is “one of four women who participated in the sexual acts, after a romantic interlude” with Stapp.

According to the suit, she is seeking damages of more than $15,000.

Last week, Red Light vowed to fight Rock’s lawsuit, claiming they were within their rights to sell or distribute the tape.

Rock, whose real name is Robert Richie, said in his lawsuit it was his understanding that the video would remain in Stapp’s possession and not be displayed publicly.
