A woman and her male accomplice were arrested this week after they allegedly robbed an adult store and another business.
Police arrested 20-year-old Monica Rashunn Ellis and Demetrice Levon Ross, 20, in connection with the robberies last Thursday at Zone D Erotica, 12880 U.S. 19 N. Largo; and at Aroma Therapy, 5000 Park Blvd. in Piniellas Park, the St. Petersburg Times reported.
The Sheriff’s Department said Ellis was dressed like a man when she entered Zone D Erotica around noon and went to the clerk to purchase a video but when the clerk opened the cash register, she pepper sprayed her and took about $300 in cash.
She then fled in a car driven by Ross and drove to the Aroma Therapy location where she again pepper sprayed a clerk but was unable to get any cash from the empty cash register. She then went to the break room and sprayed another employee, taking her purse which had contents valued at about $30. Ellis and Ross fled again.
But an employee at the second shop recognized Ellis as a former employee who had worked there for four days, said Sheriff’s spokesman Mac McMullen.
They were later arrested and face two counts of robbery with a weapon. Bail was set at $50,000 for each count.
