Born and raised in Ysbrechtum, a small farming village in The Netherlands, Anna-Marie Goddard was discovered in high school after submitting her photo to a modeling contest. Her star was quick to rise, and she soon left home on a whirlwind tour of Europe, modeling in glamorous cities such as Milan, Paris, and London, as well as throughout North Africa and Australia.
She eventually made her way to America; it was in Miami that she was discovered by Playboy and ultimately chosen to be Playboy's 40th anniversary Playmate. Soon after, Goddard was crowned Playmate of the Year in Holland.
With her newfound popularity, Goddard traveled to Russia, Taiwan, Croatia, and The Czech Republic, and was the very first Playmate in the premiere issues of Playboy in those countries. She's also appeared on such network series as Just Shoot Me and JAG, and worked with a variety of mainstream brands such as Miller Lite and Pepsi.
Knowing the importance of a compelling Web presence, Goddard's official Website, AnnaMarieGoddard.com, is the place to find beautiful photos, steamy videos, news, and special treats. We happily wait for the next chapter of her career to unfold.
AVN Online: What was it like growing up in Holland?
Anna-Marie Goddard: It was fun and safe. No worries about possible kidnappers; we'd stay hours on farms playing with the animals, jumping over ditches .... I'm glad I grew up in Europe with all the culture.
AO: I read that you milked cows. What's the secret to being a good cow milker?
AMG: Use all your fingers and start tightening with the index finger, then the middle finger, then the ring finger, and then the pinky. Squeeze and start over again that way.
AO: How long has AnnaMarie Goddard.com been on the Net?
AMG: Since June of 1999 with my free site and since December 1999 with my pay site.
AO: Do you feel it was an important decision, career-wise, to develop and produce an official Website?
AMG: Yes, because I have worked more since I started it than ever before. I booked great jobs off of my Website, as it's in a way an online portfolio and a marketing tool.
AO: I take it you are 100 percent involved with the Website?
AMG: Yes. I found out after six months when nothing got accomplished with a "Website company" that doing it myself would be the better option, so I taught myself Photoshop and an HTML program.
AO: Your Website is beautifully produced, and you've said it allows you to express your creativity.
AMG: Thank you. Yes, it's definitely an outlet as I do have a few creative bones in my body. I wanted to put a little "Dutch" into my site; on the free site I used tulips - as The Netherlands of course is so famous for its flowers - and the members area is based on the "Red Light District" ... all the thumbnails that represent the galleries are buildings from Amsterdam.
AO: How much do you shoot exclusively for your site versus shooting for print magazines?
AMG: For my site a lot more, as I update at least two times a week with large photo galleries, so that does outdo shooting for magazines, as that is not all the time, of course.
AO: I understand you are becoming involved with photography and building Websites. It seems like you're interested in facets of the business other than modeling and acting.
AMG: I was a lot more involved with that last year; I made a couple of sites and was taking photos of my "sister" [see: best friend] for a site I had made for her. I got great feedback on that and it was so much fun. Right now though, my own site, the modeling and the commercials - and tons of auditions every day I go up for - keep me so busy that I just can't find the time right now to develop more sites.
AO: Would you like to do more Website-building down the road?
AMG: Yes, but none of the sites I've built are online anymore, as the girls chose not to continue with it. It's one thing to make the Website, it's another thing to keep it going - and that's more up to the girl herself. Not everybody is that driven; or in my best friend's case, her boyfriend didn't want her to have it anymore and so we had to take it down, unfortunately, just as it was starting to do really well.
AO: You've appeared on a bunch of Playboy covers. Is there one that stands out as your favorite?
AMG: Two, actually; the very first Taiwanese issue, and one of my Dutch Playboy covers, taken in Brazil in 2001.
AO: Do you remember the first time you posed naked for a magazine? Was it when you were chosen as Playboy's 40th anniversary Playmate?
AMG: Yes. I shot my test pictures for that with a fashion photographer I'd worked with before and who Playboy was trying out. It was odd for both of us to start out like this. When I shot with Arney Freytag, the regular Playboy photographer, you could feel that it wasn't that big of a deal with him; well, he was probably immune to naked women by then.
AO: What's Mr. Hefner like?
AMG: He's very nice and seems down-to-earth, and he's witty. I've never lived at the Mansion, though, and never chose to be "a girlfriend," so I actually don't know him that well.
AO: What was it like working on Austin Powers in Goldmember?
AMG: Awesome! I had been a fan of the previous Austin Powers movies and love the humor, so it was so cool to work next to Mike Myers. He's so funny. Every take was different and it was so hard not to crack up every time. Michael Caine and I had a real problem with that. I'd see his lower lip starting to move as he had a hard time holding back laughter, and then I just had to really concentrate on not doing the same thing.
AO: If you could co-star in a film opposite one actor, who would it be?
AMG: Pierce Brosnan, because he's so wonderfully sexy and manly.
AO: Are there other career ambitions you still have and would like to experience?
AMG: Producing; either a movie, magazine, or anything similar. I'm already doing that obviously with my Website, but I'd want to do it on a bigger scale. Producing or to help in producing a movie, and everything that comes with that, seems like a major challenge and adventure. Something I know I can do.
AO: What's one of your guiltiest pleasures?
AMG: I love oatmeal cookies and licorice ... that's Dutch licorice.
AO: I read that you play piano. Is there a special tune you love to play?
AMG: "Fur Elise" by Beethoven. I love classical music. Eric Satie is one of my favorite composers as well.
AO: What's the last CD you bought?
AMG: Coldplay. I don't buy music just because it's "in" at that time, but even though Coldplay is "in" at this point, they're awesome. They sound a bit like U2 and Pink Floyd and, of course, their own sound.
AO: Apparently you and I both have a love for classic rock. Who are some of your favorite performers?
AMG: Jimi Hendrix, Led Zeppelin, and Pink Floyd.
AO: If you and I were to slow dance, what song would you want to be playing?
AMG: "Stairway to Heaven." Well, we'd dance a little faster halfway into the song, but then go right back to slow. Just how I like it.
AO: What makes you feel sexy?
AMG: Wearing simple tight jeans, heels, and a tank top and feeling men stare at me.
AO: This is like the most popular question we ask, and it's rather thrilling for me to ask a Playboy Playmate, so, if you would, please describe the underwear you have on.
AMG: A soft cotton-with-lace cream-colored g-string. No bra. It's all about simple, sexy, and comfortable.
AO: When you sleep, you wear...
AMG: A little T-shirt, no panties. In the wintertime a sweater, but again, no pajama pants or panties. The upper body needs to stay warm.
AO: If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be?
AMG: I'm really happy the way I am right now in every way. I wish, though, I felt that way and had had the same mindset I have now when I was younger, as I used to be pretty shy, and let a lot of great opportunities go by.
AO: Tell me a newspaper headline you'd like to read about yourself one day.
AMG: "Anna-Marie Goddard Brings Peace To the World."
