The waves are crashing into the beach, and the hammers are crashing into nails.
This resort area, home to the Webmaster Access Getaway, is a veritable construction zone. If you’re not waking up to the cool ocean breeze, then you’re waking up to the sound of hammers and saws that are turning Cancun’s beachfront into what it was pre-hurricane.
On Tuesday night, workers were still putting the roof on the beachside restaurant here at the Omni Resort at which the Webmaster Access crowd has become accustomed to eating its evening meal. The hotel staff vowed that the restaurant would be finished in time for Eric Matis, the event organizer, to host the opening-night dinner.
Apparently, workers toiled all night and most of the day to finish, because at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Matis cut the ribbon and we ate.
Dinner was followed, of course, by drinks. Most of our adult industry contingent went to the sprawling megalopolis of a nightclub called The City to catch a performance by Fat Joe.
Today likely will offer more of the same, but for now the beach is calling.
