Vivid Submits DMJ Figures to ‘Guinness Book of Records’

Vivid Entertainment Group has formally submitted its sales figures for The New Devil in Miss Jones to the “Guinness Book of World Records.”

National sales manager Howard Levine reports that Vivid has already sold over 55,000 units of the title, which stars Jenna Jameson and Savanna Samson and will be shipped next week. Levine said Vivid wants it to be considered for the “largest selling, straight adult film ever out the door.”

“I think it’s a first that anybody’s ever submitted anything like that to ‘Guinness,’” he told AVN.com. “We have sent in the paperwork and we’ll see if they pick it up.”

A billboard in New York's Times Square recently was erected to promote the title, which was directed by Paul Thomas. The anticipated release also prompted Genesis to create a collector’s edition magazine supplement entirely for the movie, which is a remake of the 1973 classic.

“Between the two titles that we’ve come out with recently, Jenna Loves Pain and DMJ, we’ve sold close to 100,000 units, which is really large for two titles,” Levine continued. “We personally wanted to thank the distributors for doing such an unbelievable job. I thank you. [Club Jenna CEO] Jay [Grdina] thanks you, [Vivid co-chairman] Steven [Hirsch] thanks you and most importantly, Jenna thanks you.”

Samson and Thomas will appear at a Vivid release party on Sept. 29 at Crobar in New York
