Samson, 3rd Degree’s newest director, relies upon his background as an adult photographer and box cover designer to help him overcome his lack of experience as a director.
Though last week’s release of Finger Licking Good served as Samson’s directorial debut, the ten-year veteran of the adult industry isn’t inexperienced when it comes to making adult movies. The former general manager of Metro Interactive has numerous production credits, just none as director.
And despite his foray into directing, Samson continues to create box covers for a number of adult companies including Zero Tolerance, Diabolic, Smash Pictures, and 3rd Degree through his own company, Vicious Designs.
"Directing photo shoots and having the eye transfers into directing," Samson told AVN.com. "You know what looks good on camera and you know what people want to see. I think if you can design a package to sell, conceptualizing something specifically to get people to actually look at it and want to pick it up, I think you can put that skill into a movie and make it look good and hot. "
For the DVD version of Finger Licking Good, 3rd Degree’s first girl/girl series, he created the "multiple toy option," a button that allows the user to watch the same scene with or without toys. "I figured I could give them the best of both worlds, because some people like toys and some don’t," Samson said.

Samson looks for heat, but not physically abusive sex scenes. "It needs a lot passion, a lot of heat. I’m not interested in the choking, the smacking, and just violating the girl for the girl/girl scene, It needs to be more erotic, yet at the same time have the intensity that some of the really harsh scenes have."
Finger Licking Good features Lexie Marie and Monique Alexander, two women who were named Vivid Girls last month, as well as Penny Flame, Sammy Rhodes, Sarah Blake, Brooke, Teanna Kai, Xara Diaz, Brooke Haven, Sandra Shine, Mackenzie Mack, and Isabella.
Samson is also directing Beef Eaters, a blowjob series, for 3rd Degree. As an incentive to get the best possible scene, Samson offers a $1000 dollar bonus to the female performer he feels turned in the best performance. "Everyone gets their rate, and whoever I feel did the best scene after its been edited, when I’m watching what the consumer will be watching, that girl gets the extra 1000 bucks," he said.
"It makes a huge difference. They aren’t just showing up for work, they are showing up and going balls out for it," Samson continued. "These girls went over the top. The girl who won, Vanessa Lane, she shows up and we’re like, ‘Do you have any tricks?’ and she’s like, ‘Yeah’ and she grabs a bottle of lube and just pours it down her throat and she says, ‘This is to help me deep throat!’"
His third series for 3rd Degree is Tits Ahoy, a big boob movie.
