Vic Thomas and T.J DiReda have started Vertigo Video, a gonzo company that plans to release its first title on Sept. 1.
Thomas is the former head of sales for Private North America and DiReda most recently was director of marketing for Pure Play Media, which distributes such lines as Ninn Worx and Seymore Butts. Both used to work for Vivid Entertainment Group.
"As we have been discussing for a while working together, it seemed like the right time to pull the trigger on a company that will be more female friendly," Thomas said. "Not only have we started to groom young directors, we have been looking for a dirty female auteur that can push the envelope for us."
Vertigo Video's debut release will be Mad at Daddy, a teen inspired title directed by Kevin Moore.
The other videos already on the release schedule include Suck Start My Heart, the first in a blowjob line, and Outgunned, a "male violation" series in which several girls tease and torture one guy in reverse gangbang style. Vertigo is also working on More Chicks Than Dicks and Wet and Ready.
DiReda told AVN.com that Suck Start My Heart would mark the directorial debut of notorious porn writer Scott Fayner of www.lukeford.com.
"I've been working on putting together a team that I think can raise the bar and set a new precedent in what we've now come to know as high-end gonzo," DiReda said late Monday. "… The idea is to give some of the control back to the females. I believe that it’s hotter to have girls play a stronger role in the sex scenes. It lends itself to hotter sex watching girls enjoy something I believe adult had lost sight of for a moment. Make no mistakes we have a ton of surprises in store for consumers and for the industry itself, things that will make porn fun again.”
