Vegas Baby, Vegas

Greetings from Sin City. Here we are, yet another Internext and another opportunity for Tripp Daniels to entrench himself in Las Vegas party lore. A new Rat Pack in the making? Perhaps, but somewhere Ol’ Blue Eyes, Dino, and Sammy are probably looking down and smiling at the gang and me.

The first night was calm – dinner with friends and a few hours at the craps tables. But Night #2 was when the big party boys came to play. Norman Bentley and Asher from Matrix, Christian Amico of Atlas Multimedia, Andy and Kim Alvarez from Webmaster Central and various unnamed lasses and I were all cocktailing in the mega-suite at the Venetian when the Bat Phone sounded and we were into the limo and on our way to Mandalay Bay for the Jungle Bash at Rum Jungle.

The place was mobbed. Luckily I had procured a VIP pass and swooped in to become one with the raucousness.

So I’m chillin’ with Andy Alvarez at a private table and we’re chatting up a babe in blue paint. Not a stitch of clothing, only paint. We shared beverages of the alcoholic variety and exchanged stories of drunken debauchery.

Speaking of drunken debauchery, the Rum Jungle was a’ rockin’ and a’ rollin all night. Sponsored by a who’s who of the Adult Internet industry, it was the place to be late Tuesday night. There were chicks dancing up in the rafters in cages, drinks were flowing like the Euphrates, which I honestly have no clue if it flows or not but I like the fact that I can use such a word in this column, and by the time I stumbled out the place was still shakin’ like a Polaroid picture – Pop Culture Alert: ‘shake it like a Polaroid picture’ is a line from a song by Outkast, which was really popular last year but has since become so annoying you almost yearn for the days of Kool and the Gang’s “Celebration,” which I understand is still quite popular at weddings, reunions, and Bar Mitzvahs.

A quick word on the show thus far: Crowded! It seems, at least to this observer hopped up on three lattes, that Webmasters new and not so new are hitting this year’s bacchanal of Adult Web business with gusto. There is energy in the circulated air. People are doing B-U-S-I-N-E-S-S. People are working the floor. People are making sure to hit the seminars and they’re networking at the bar over cocktails into the wee small hours of the morning.

YNOT Bob and LAJ are here and they’re jazzed about what’s forthcoming with YNOT.com. Kelly Madison and her 413 Prods. Crew is here and she is excited about business. Wankus told me specifically that he is excited about KSEX and their big year ahead.

I feel something and it’s not last night’s final Chivas neat that nearly ended young Trippy. No, the show is awash with optimism and excitement – The Rat Pack would be proud. They’d also be drunk, but by God they would be proud.

Aloha.
