The Xplicit British Film Festival made a bid to boost audience participation and democratize the film festival process this week, when it issued an invitation for amateur porn video submissions. According to the festival's organizers, the winner of the contest will come away with a contract to direct a film for XplicitXXX, part of adult channel Xplicit 984. Entries must be between 5-20 minutes in length and will air on XplicitXXX.
In addition to the contract, the winner of the best amateur adult video will also win two airplane tickets to what the event's producers tout as "porn capital of the world," Los Angeles, California.
Xplicit 984 is one of the sponsors of the event and was founded by Amanda Kiss in 2003. Kiss has been a central force in bringing porn to the forefront of British culture and has described her goal as an effort to "revolutionize porn and take it to the mainstream."
The Xplicit British Film Festival is the first erotic festival of its kind in England and will take place in September at an undisclosed London theater.
