Trampas, a new company headquartered in Tucson, Arizona, will debut a line of hardcore videos shot entirely in Mexico in January, according to its owner, Arnold Stein. They’ll start off with three series: Made in Mexxxico, Back Seat Blowjobs and one still to be titled.
Stein, who had been a sales manager for another niche-based manufacturer, struck out on his own when he became aware of a thriving but hitherto unknown cottage porn industry in the state of Chihuahua.
“There’s a crazy little underground porn circuit,” he says, “which for some odd reason—me being in the industry for seven years and living in Tucson for ten—I’d never heard about. But my partner, who is Mexican, has known about it for years. They sell these videos on the street. They don’t mass produce them, they make like 50 or 100 copies and that’s it.”
In Mexico, he met the men who run the amateur operation but declined to buy any of their “hundreds of videos” because of poor technical quality. “They film with camcorders, no joke, not even good digital cameras,” he says. “One man offered me his entire library for next to nothing. I didn’t want it. I wanted the girls. We made a deal with these guys, basically, to use all their girls. We have a stable of over 70 girls right now, that nobody knows about and no one is going to know about other than us.”
He did buy a bit of content for his web site, MadeInMexxxico.com, which he says will be up and running by the end of the month. But everything else was shot from scratch with digital equipment.
“We go straight across the border, about six hours, into Chihuahua, and we start filming.” His partner, he says, “goes even further—way into these little towns that I can’t even pronounce, with like four Xs in them. I don’t know any Spanish.”
The women are unaccustomed to working with a full crew instead of just a guy and a camcorder. “We come in with lights, the whole deal, and they get a little freaked.” The male talent, so far, is just one guy, Mexican but bilingual. “Luckily, he’s great. He just loves this stuff—you can see it!”
Trampas will be distributing all product itself. Stein has already made deals with “all the major distributors.” He will sell it only in North America and overseas—not in Mexico.
The videos will go out only in the DVD format. He has four ready to go and will have more when he starts to ship in January. All are in the “reality porn” mode, but he plans to move into feature films with “full stories that you can follow if you know English or Spanish.”
Stein knows that a big niche is just waiting to be filled. “There’s a lot of Mexicans out there and a lot of people who like that look,” he says.
