In response to concerns over adult shops opening in this upstate New York town, officials there have nearly completed a study on the impacts such businesses would have on the community.
The town had recently adopted a law regulating adult businesses after community members complained about the Route 20 News and Video store opened in town, The East Greenbush Independent reported.
Residents said they were concerned about the shop’s merchandise of adult toys, magazines and adult videos as well as its arcade section where customers could watch sex videos.
But concern over the law’s legality prompted the study which is scheduled to be completed in September.
Robert Penna, a consultant hired by the city, is evaluating the law and is scheduled to submit a recommendation on it to the Town Board. Once the study is completed the board may amend the law or rewrite it.
