SugarDVD’s Chief Executive Officer, JAX, is ecstatic about the popularity that his company has received from its recent connection to former “Beverly Hills 90210” star, Tori Spelling.
JAX told AVN.com that he sees the recent brush with Hollywood, and the subsequent press that the online retailer has received thereafter, as possibly doubling the size of his company.
“This week we’ve become one of the most widely discussed online services in the world,” said JAX. “Tori Spelling, who is on the front of US Weekly this month, has come out and said publicly that she rents adult movies from us.
“We then offered her free porn for life, and the story has since taken off like a rocket.”
Spelling, who has had parts in Scream 2 and Scary Movie 2 and now stars in her own reality show on VH1, “Notorious,” conveyed her fondness for renting porn DVDs in the mail from the online adult rental service in an interview in the June 2006 edition of Giant magazine.
“My husband [Dean McDermott] and I also belong to this service that’s like a porn Netflix, called SugarDVD.com. The Netflix DVDs come in a red package and the Sugar DVDs come in a blue one, so we’re like, ‘Oooh! A Netflix arrived!’ or ‘Oooh! A porn arrived!’ Spelling told Giant.
JAX said the company offered Spelling a 14K Card, which would give the actress access to free porn for life. Since then, SugarDVD has been mentioned in Page Six of the New York Post, the E! Channel’s Top 10 Buzz List, MSN and the popular radio station, KROQ. JAX said that Jay Leno is also currently looking at the story.
“Aside from Mary Carey, I can't remember a bigger mainstream adult story in the past five years,” said JAX.
SugarDVD.com offers customers access to thousands of adult DVDs from virtually every adult studio. The company uses a system similar to the popular mainstream, Netflix: users order DVDs online, and within a couple of days, a discreet blue envelope arrives in a member’s physical mailbox with DVD selections. A postage-paid envelope is provided for members to return selections.
