Topco Sales has set up Web sites to honor Sales Associate Cory Ipson, who died last month, and its International Sales and Special Accounts Manager Tracy Khauv, who remains in critical condition with a viral illness.
“From the beginning we needed to communicate with the industry and those that were close to Cory and those who are praying for Tracy’s recovery,” said Topco President Scott Tucker.
“That’s where the idea for the Web sites came about.”
The 44-year-old Ipson died of an apparent suicide on July 18. He joined the company in 1994 and served as a sales associate at the time of his death.
Khauv, a 10-year employee, had fallen ill on July 15 and was rushed to a local hospital where she was treated for a viral infection. Tucker said she was recovering when she suffered two successive brain hemorrhages and has been unresponsive since July 19, when the first hemorrhage took place.
“She is conscious, but in a coma-like state of being and we don’t believe she can actually tell where there and talking to her,” Tucker said.
“It’s just shocking that somebody so young and energetic can be struck out of the blue by something that baffles physicians.”
The sites, are www.coryipson.com and www.tracykhauv.com, which feature photographs and a message board featuring postings from friends and others who knew Ipson and Khauv.
One of the photographs on Ipson’s site shows his family next to a flower arrangement shaped like the Rolling Stones’ logo of an open mouth with a tongue sticking out.
“Cory was a huge fan of the Rolling Stones, so that was a memorable moment to see that,” Tucker added.
On Khauv’s site, visitors may access a link to donate funds toward her medical care.
