Three new male niche sites, including their first low-cost/no frills site, were announced May 7 by XYCash.com, earlier than the company says they expected to launch.
BlackBoySex.com is a high-end site XYCash.com says is the first on the Web for gay surfers whose taste is young black men. "Most sites until now have focused on general ethnic categoriesor on traditional black categories," says XYCash.com's Doug McClure. "This isn't 'Shaft,' we have been quite specific in finding models that fit the twink category. After reviewing other offerings close to this site, we created a unique tour which is amateur in feel to match surfer's preferences, but have highlighted the exclusive content we define the site by."
McClure says testing the site showed conversions "well below 1:60, so we feel confident that the concept works." The largely-exclusive, mostly hardcore site came about that way because of a lack of available non-exclusive material, and much of its content will be commissioned exclusively, XYCash.com says, anticipating fortnightly updates.
TwinkZilla.com, XYCash.com's newest project, was something seen as a big risk because of the low $6.95-a-month membership cost, McClure says. "In testing where the majority of traffic came from secondary consoles," he says, "it converted at 1:100. I was, to say the least, shocked."
Enough so, apparently, to prod XYCash.com to release it early to fill "the base of its offerings and...convert even the worst traffic because of its low cost." McClure says there remains a substantial enough market looking for photos only and no gloss or glamour, or who can't afford full membership to the high-end sites.
TwinkZilla.com brings XYCash.com's online photo inventory to over 100,000, not to mention hundreds of original MPEGs, all licensed and legal, McClure continues. "We thought it would be our least profitable site but felt the market was there, so we tried it," he says. "The conversions we've seen from audiences that frankly weren't in a buying mood have led us to believe there are real possibilities here that have never been addressed." And there's no trial membership.
BoysInBoys.com is another newer concept - twink hardcore only. It's $29.95 to get in but the conversions, XYCash.com says, showed 1:266, beyond expectations from a non-trial high end site, McClure says.
Meanwhile, the mass international marketing campaign XYCash.com launched in 2002 is showing results already, McClure continues, with the key being simple enough. "As a paysite owner, you are the one that creates the tours...you sell what you know," he says. "There's two of us in charge here, and we do everything ourselves, tours and all. If my tour won't get me interested in seeing more, why would it interest anyone else?"
