When Thomas Zupko directed his 2000 big budget erotic tale of medieval times In the Days of Whore, he knew someday he would revisit the tale.
“It had a lot of things that I knew I wanted to get back to in another movie,” said the veteran director.
Telling the debauch tale of a prostitute who is sent to an island leper colony by an evil ruler, Zupko showed his story-telling skills as well as his penchant for raunchy sex in his first major movie for Extreme Associates. The title also nabbed Zupko AVN Awards in 2001 for Best Anal Sex Scene and Most Outrageous Sex Scene
It featured Bridgette Kerkove, Krysti Mist and Taylor St. Claire, along with Brian Surewood and Rod Fontana.
“It was a weird movie in a way with its medieval story and all the fucking that went on,” he recalled.
“But until now, I didn’t know if I could follow that up.”
Today, Zupko is revisiting his story when he begins rolling next month on the prequel to the movie, dubbed Before the Days of Whore.
Starring veteran stud Tom Byron in the lead and a yet un-cast group of hotties, Zupko hopes the little bit of magic that made In the Days of Whore successful will rub off on this newest title.
“I have a bigger budget now and with exteriors all over the place, with about 15 or 20 locations, it’s going to be a big production.”
It was just last month that Zupko returned to Extreme after working with several studios in recent years.
Called a “prodigal son” by Extreme owner Rob Black, Zupko feels at home in the sometimes heady environment provided by Black, his wife, Lizzy Borden, and the production team known for their sometimes quirky, but often edgy hardcore movies.
“I was talking to Rob about what I should work on first and he said ‘why not do a sequel to In the Days of Whore? And I thought it was a great idea.”
Having written the script with much emphasis on characterization, Zupko called on Byron to take the leading role of king.
“He’s the best actor and performer in the business, so that was an easy choice.”
For the other roles, he’s still casting, but Zupko knows his new movie will again push the envelope with rough and sometimes bizarre sex as well as gritty dramatic scenes.
“You have to be able to act and fuck at the same time and some people can’t do both, unfortunately.”
Once production is completed, Before Days of Whore will be issued in the fall as a two-disk set, which would include the original In the Days of Whore, in a remastered and re-cut version.
Meanwhile, Zupko is completing shooting Ass Squirt set for release in mid September, starring Amber Rayne and Missy Monroe.
“The thing about this one is that they don’t squirt from the pussy. They squirt from the ass.”
