This weekend Serenity will be on E! for Wild on...the Caribbean. And both Serenity and Stephanie Swift will be on Extra this weekend from coverage of Erotica LA. Serenity will also be on Conway and Steckler Monday night at 9:30 (97.1 FM), Loveline on Tuesday night (106.7FM) and the Man Show on Wednesday night.
Stephanie will be dancing next week at the Spearmint Rhino in Van Nuys June 24 - 26. She's in Rialto this weekend at their club up there. Missy is in Chicago at the Capitol News Warehouse for an open house and Jenna is dancing in North Carolina at the Uptown Cabaret.
Dave C from Deja Vu writes regarding the Jenna Jameson story posted yesterday: "I read the response that weazel from the lee network gave. He knows exactly what happened. We are tired of his lies and stories. If you know of another agency that handles the bigger adult video stars, please post this and ask that they email me. I make the decisions and am tired of the unprofessional attitude and service that the lee network thinks is appropriate. Tell any of your new stars that they should seriously consider a different agency. For years, the lee network has badmouthed every agent, particularly Charly Frye's company; but, according to some of our clubs that have been working with him, he is excellent. I think we need to find out for ourselves. You can tell Tony never to call us again. Oh, by the way, you have a great site. Do you know something about Mimi Myagi? Who represents her? We get alot of calls for her and I don't know how to reach her. Does she have an internet site?"
Mike Albo writes: "It was with some surprise that I read on your site the story of my unimely demise. I did some digging and discovered that it was all part of a prank being pulled by seveal employees here at LFP, Inc. Of course, in none of the phone calls made to a certain internet cretin was there ever a mention of heroin or any other drug for that matter. That was just something this idiot decided to throw in for God only knows what reason. It just goes to show-once again-that the person to whom I referring cannot be taken seriously as a journalist, expert or author.
Roy Karch Quits Dr. Susan Block
Comes this e-mail bombshell from Roy Karch Productions: "Hall of Fame director, Roy Karch, has severed his participation with Block Films. Karch cites "unscrupulous business practices" on the part of Max Lobkowicz, Block's husband and alto-capo. Karch, who created the video series, "The Encyclopedia of Sex and Fetish," as well as marketed it for the past eighteen months, says, "Once our original agreement was reneged on, I had no choice but to distance myself from all business with Max."
Max Loblowicz has this to say.
Lobkowicz: "This is unbelievable. He's doing films now, and he said he couldn't handle sales anymore. Originally he wasn't working very much. He came to us and said let me sell your videos for you. Pay me a percentage of it. I said absolutely. I said if you build this thing, I think we can do very well. So he started selling and he did quite well. Then he started slowing down because he does movies. He's not in the telemarketing field. This has been going on for two years. A couple of months ago I said, 'Roy, you got me started in this end, but we gotta sell them.' He told me he was busy. I said I'm going to have to get somebody to sell them. He said that's fine. He said he didn't mind. I hired someone. He said should I get a part of this forever? I said I don't think so, Roy. I put all the money in, every dime of it. I paid him more than normal commissions. I paid for his plane fares to conventions. We have taken him to New York when there was no business purpose. We have done so much for this guy.
"Then I saw him here Saturday at our party. We had 500 or 600 people here. I asked him how he was doing. He said fine. He gave me no inclination that something was bothering him."
Dr. Susan Block comments.
Dr. Block: "Created the series? I think it's strange that he said that. I suppose people do that when you're upset about something. He hasn't told me he was upset. I consider Roy a friend. I guess he's not a friend, now. This is weird. I thought the reason he wasn't selling anymore is because he's in a new relationship and busy with his career as a director. He's always told us he doesn't like sales.
"We got involved with Roy because we think he's a great salesman. He has talent as a director, yet he has a great talent as a salesman and I've always encouraged him to do sales. He looks down on it. We've had some heart to heart conversations on how he thought it was beneath him. I'm not about to make someone do something they don't want to do. These videos do sell. Stores want to buy them. He sold quite a few to begin with. We wanted him to sell. He wanted to sever relations. Now we got another salesman. I think sales is extremely important to any operation. He was in charge of sales to the extent that we started selling the Encyclopedia with him. I'm just amazed that he would do something like this. Maybe he's trying to get publicity in some way. I just saw him Saturday night. I hugged him and kissed him. I saw him at Erotica LA.
"We're a small company, and we do lots of things. We have parties, we do videos, I run an institute, I'm a sex therapist in private practice. Roy was like a member of the family. I know he was mad at us when we moved. We used to live and work two minutes away from where he lived. He was over all the time. Since we moved downtown, he has been here a lot less. He's gotten involved with a lovely lady, Jeannie. I guess that he has other priorities. Jeannie is a very nice person, but she didn't come to the party. Roy said she wasn't feeling well. I don't know if she has something to do with this. Since he's gotten involved with her, he's gotten less involved with us. He's got this girlfriend that he wants to be with. I understand that. I don't know what her take is on this. We've always been very alboveboard with him on all our dealings.
Lobkowicz: "Now I'm pissed off. He doesn't show up for work. I have to feed the guy. He's got no money. I have been so kind to this man. He was broke when I met him. And he's still broke."
Dr. Block: "He was here Saturday drinking my liquor. Maybe it's a self-destructive thing. It seems like a drug-induced act. I hate to say that. I don't know how to portray this. We had this big party and, maybe because we did, they thought we were a lot richer than we seem to be. We just had this big party that another company, friends of ours, financed. I can't think of where this outburst came from. Maybe Roy thought, what did I do, I'm not a part of this. We're a mom & pop shop. Roy was Uncle Roy. I have no idea what they're referring to by unscrupulous business practices. He reneged on our original agreement, and we kept trying to modify it so he could sell when he could. I do have a good reputation and one little guy like this can really mess it up. People hear that and go, 'Oh my God there must be some truth to that.'
[Block says companies like Pacific Media and Passion Pictures can well vouch for her integrity.]
Dr. Block: "We've gone through some tough times with Roy. But Roy has always been paid every dime we owe him. He got paid one-third of each tape he sold which is pretty high. It was everything I could do to get Roy to even watch a video. He certainly didn't have anything to do with the making of the videos. We were not a sales institution. We were a creative institution. We were making HBO shows which we still do. We sold our videos on the website to clients. He said I can sell them to stores. We said great. That he did do. He gave us the motivation to sell them to stores. He got us going there. I remember the first person he said could sell them wound up ripping us off for $900. We didn't hold Roy to that money. It was a friend of his. He felt just as betrayed.
"He did get us our connection with Tower Video and they have been selling our videos very well. He had a connection with John Thrasher. I give Roy full credit for that connection, and with Pacific Media; but he [Karch] didn't create these shows. He was not the director. He did not create this series. I worked on it for years before I met him. Basically he got tired of us nagging him to sell. He did make a few sales calls for us that were great and he certainly got paid for that. He's never done anything but sales.
Lobkowicz: "I have yelled at Roy. I have terrorized the man to get on the fucking phone and sell. 120 stores in two years, 44 of them Tower? That's disgraceful that I keep putting out the money."
Karch claims he was more than a salesman, that he was a one-third business partner.
Karch: "I couldn't take it anymore - chasing my money. Most of what they say about my being paid is true. Then they brought in another salesforce, Passion Pictures, at such time I was reduced from 33% of the profits to 25% based on me getting 10% of Passion Pictures' profits. I haven't seen a dime of that in six months and no accounting of how much they've sold. When I call over there they're very tight-lipped. When I ask Max. He has no concept. When I was in their office two months ago they had sold 1200 tapes to Passion Pictures at $10...I would say there's a good 2 or $3,000 due me there.
"I had to beg off selling these tapes because they started to dupe them at home. When I first met them I saw all these tapes that were just sitting. We became friends. I asked them what they were going to do with all these tapes. Do you want to market them? I said why don't we put out a video line. I developed the line, the Encyclopedia. I went back to all my sales files where I was sales manager of Western Visuals and Gourmet, pulled out all the big hitters including Tower Video and got us in there.
"I developed some mail order situations with Scott Brastow and Pacific Media and got us into the Playboy catalogue. The way the deal was structured was the monies would be mailed to them [the Blocks], payable to me, since they were all my accounts. A check would come into Roy Karch. The check would come into their address. They would call me up. I would go to the bank and cash the check because Max didn't want to show any money on his account. It was all legitimate money. I would put it through my account. I'd bring to him his money minus my 33% after the cost. He would get his money the same day. That way we would have a check on each other. He got the checks. He'd know they were in. And everybody knew money was there.
"Behind my back he called Tower Video, Model distributors and said when you call the orders in, now, you should call them to us directly. Now, I didn't know when an order was made, I didn't know when a check arrived. I knew this when I called Model I said are you going to be ordering anymore. They said they ordered twice and paid twice. They sent me a copy of the cancelled check. I called Max, what about my money? He said they'd been meaning to...finally, it took me four weeks to get all the commission from those two sales. Max changed the deal behind my back with all my stores. I let that slide. I said if you're going to do this, I don't want to put as much time in. He said fine they were doing a deal with Passion Pictures anyway and we need to restructure our deal. Yesterday I get a phone call that he has called two other accounts to them them to order directly from him and make the checks payable to him.
Block: "Max didn't call any accounts."
Karch: "That was it. Those were the last two I had out of about 60 accounts that were still ordering through me. I wanted out from direct selling but not from our arrangement on the monies that were being generated. I set up that entire business. There should be an equitable arrangement, a buy out or paying me on the Passsion Pictures money instead of putting me off and off. I haven't got dollar one from them. Every place they've sold has been a direct connection of mine. They had nobody. I think it's unscrupulous rearranging a deal behind my back and not paying me for Passion Pictures. I'm separating myself from them. I brought them Video Images, a duplicator. We got the best price. Max still owes them over a thousand dollars for six months. Now the guy won't deal with me and Max is duplicating one at a time out of his house. That all happened when they moved downtown and were in a bind for money. Understand I'm not going to sell anymore but I'm a participant in this business. They have a reputation problem. I'm not just a salesman but a third partner. Of course we have no paper. I just want people to know that Roy Karch is no longer with those people."
[When questioned by the Blocks, about his statement of being a third-partner, Karch told them that Gene Ross had 'made that up.']
Block says it comes as a surprise that Karch thinks he's a one-third partner. "He's never been a partner," she says. "He's always been a salesman for us. He got one-third of what he sold. We thought he was going to be a big salesforce. He has never put a dime into the business. He made some phone calls. He has never paid the $900 from his friend who stole money from us."
David, the president of Passion Pictures, says there's a total miscommunication as far as money Karch thinks he's owed. "I can show every tape I sold for Suzie and Max," David said. "All our books are open. I've got no reason to steal a dollar from anybody. As far as 1200 tapes, no way."
"Roy is just pulling stuff out of some compartment of his head," Dr. Block says. "We owe Video Images $77.50. We owed them $900 for awhile but paid them off. One of the problems was no sales. Roy wasn't selling. We had some money problems. And we do duplicate out of our house. We have fine quality. They're better quality. And we have been calling accounts to tell them to deal directly with us because Roy said he wasn't working for us anymore."
"The only money Roy is owed is an order I've been waiting 90 days to get paid on. His commission on that after costs is about $50. That's what we're talking about. I have a clean conscience," Lobkowicz said.

A huge roster of performance artists and adult entertainment stars will take the stage for afternoon and evening shows at Fort Mason's Cowell Theatre on Sunday, June 20th, from 3 PM to Midnight, in San Francisco. The gala event, titled "SAVE THE MERMAID, The Annie Sprinkle Fire Show," is a benefit for Annie Sprinkle, well known adult film star-turned-performance artist, whose houseboat burned in April while she was away on tour. In addition to the stage shows, (4 to 6 and 8 to 10 PM) there will be game booths and auctions. Among the items to be auctioned: Annie Sprinkle Tit-Prints, Wondrous Vulva Puppets and unique "Burnt Offerings," consisting of certain Annie Sprinkle treasures transformed by the molten heat of the fire into magical metal sculptures. Mike Albo writes: "From 1987 to 1990, I was on the faculty of the English Department at the University of LaVerne. One of the classes I taught was English 101B in which the main focus was how to write a college research paper. It was probably the most dismal time of my life-and, believe me, I have experienced some dark moments in my time-simply because I had to read so many poorly researched, shoddily executed papers. I thought I had put all of that far behind me until I received my copy of Luke Ford's "A History of X".
This "book" reads like a long version of a bad term paper. There are no new insights proffered here, and Luke seems content to merely parrot what others have said before. When Luke does say something that might bear closer examination, he drops the ball. A good example of this is when he states as fact that most porn chicks fuck dogs, just not on camera. What proof can he offer to back up this ludicrous claim? That people would buy this waste of time boggles the mind. Of course, they believe that Luke's book is actually written by someone who knows what he's talking about rather than some guy who is more concerened with being perceived as "controversial" than imparting any sort of knowledge to the general public.
Perhaps I can save all those who are considering buying Luke's book a few bucks by stating that "The History of X" is a poorly written piece of crap that should be avoided at all costs. What can you say about a man who puts himself up as some sort of moralist and who then turns around and plagiarizes material from other sources with no attribution? Any self-respecting journalist would be loathe to do this type of thing, but Luke does it on a regular basis. He has also stated on record that he "is not concerned with the facts."
On the plus side, there's a very funny photo of Luke-looking very fey, I might add-on the back of the jacket. Has this doofus ever taken a photo that didn't look completely posed? Anyway, for a more detailed critique of this book, please look to the November 1999 issue of HEVG in which a well-known author dissects "The History of X" page by page.

Is the Euro-market going ka-blooey? Scala sent out this terse fax recently that has many folk a-buzz in the adult business.:
"We are starting an action in Holland with cheap, but new video titles due to competition from small wholesalers - also from direct import out of the USA. What we need are videos that cost $500, up to $750 per title. Please send as many titles, boxes or inserts as possible. Don't send us this old, old crap."
Flashers Adult Video & Novelty is getting ready to open a sixteen video adult store chain in the south. Some of Flashers' locations include: Atlanta-Houston-Birmingham-Nashville-Biloxi, MS-Jacksonville-Dallas-New Orleans-San Antonio-Little Rock-Memphis-Shreveport,LA-Panama City-Fort Lauderdale-Miami-Mobile. And more on the way in the coming years. Their goal is to be America's largest Adult Video and Novelty Store Chain, according to Will Zinnerman, Flasher's product/stock supervisor.

Cohen: "We've had a bunch of big names in. Everybody's fascinated with the store. Peter North who has his own store couldn't get over it. Tonight is our big party. Up until 9 o'clock last night we had a very nice crowd here. It slowed down. We're in a working area of a working city so at 9 things slow down. But we're expecting a lot of people today at lunch break, before dinner, after dinner. Certainly after the [press] party they're aware that we're going to have a full crew here. The party is getting underway at 7 o'clock. We have a couple of limos coming down her, the red carpet, sky chaser lights, the whole deal. It'll be a regular-type of Hollywood production in a little piece of New England. Misty Rain's in our store right now. Katie Gold and Tabitha Stevens are going to be arriving soon. Serenity and Jonathon Morgan will be here this afternoon. Peter North and Jewel De'Nyle were kind enough to visit another one of our stores in the area. We had a very nice turnout of people who are helping us launch the new store."
Kid Venom writes: "After Al Borda tried and failed to lure Kid Sparkle away from Leisure Time, it seems he became enamored of Kid Vegas. (Vegas is way better at the self-promotion game.) Vegas' move to form his own company would seem to indicate that Borda may have succeeded in forming a partnership with this drugs-n-guns poster boy. The question is, if Borda is indeed one of the Kid's financial backers, exactly whose money is he pumping into Kid Vegas Video...?
On the lighter side, which porn producer flirted with a starlet at a party recently by sharing his cigar with her? Now the starlet has a blister on her lip and she blames the producer for infecting her with herpes...?
Gene sez: "If Kid Venom's Borda information is true, does that put Borda in bed with Legend? If there is a Legend-Borda connection, Jeff from Legend who's good friends with Borda isn't aware of it.
Jeff: "Who's this Kid Venom? Everybody's a kid. Kid Vegas came by here yesterday. I asked him what is your big announcement on Friday. What are you talking about? He was very vague. He wouldn't tell me anything. All he said is why don't you guys give me a contract. I said look, let's leave it as it is. He's saying he's got a lot of people talking to him and willing to give him money. I told him if that's the case go do it. I won't stand in your way and I'll wish you good luck. Is this Kid Vegas studio true? It's so hard to tell what's real from the nonsense. There's no secret deals with Al Borda that I'm aware of."
Neither is Borda.
Al Borda: "There's a lot of kids going around. All my money's pumped into AOL right now. I'm down like 50 grand. I have a real cushy job where I work four days a month. It's a cushy deal. I make my movies. We edit them. I basically have a motocross company we sponsor all the super cross races and all the jump shows. I do that 26 days out of the month. I travel to every race. My deal with Pleasure is up at the end of this year. I'm almost positive they'll renew it. Mike and Frank [Kaye] have always been good to me. I'll probably always be at Pleasure and when I'm done producing I'll probably go to work in one of their headquarters' offices or in Miami and be a pencil pusher. I'll never do another deal with Legend, ever. I don't care if you put the money in an escrow account up front. If it was a deal with Jeff Mike, and I was available to do it, I probably would because he's my best friend. I would do one with Mark Carriere because I trust him. He's always been good to me. Or David Sturman. But there's no reason for me to leave. Michael and Frank [Kaye], besides Private Video, are the most powerful people in the business. Besides making videos, they buy more cassettes than anybody. They're the biggest novelty distributors, magazines...why would I want to go anywhere else? I don't know any kids. The only kid I know is Jeff Mike's kid. I never met Kid Sparkle, Kid Vegas or Johnny Toxic. I did speak to Kid Sparkle once on the phone."
Kid Vegas had this to say at Erotica LA last week: "I heard Legend was upset with me because of the comments I made about the investors because they're friends with Legend. I got a new multi-million dollar studio in North Hollywood. I can shoot there whenever I want there. My dad signed the contract the other day. It's Tujunga near Roscoe. I'm going to start shooting there next week."
Kid Vegas starts shooting there today. Interestingly, it just happens to be where John Bone's studio is located. We asked Bone if there was a secret Kid Vegas deal on the table.
Bone: "It's not my studio."
G. Ross: "I've heard rumors that it was in the same building."
Bone: "There is the Kid Vegas studio here. As a matter of fact, he dropped by my studio, he's here right now. His studio is very close."
G. Ross: "That would make it the men's room, wouldn't it. Now that I look at it, there's a very strong familial resemblance between you and the Kid."
Bone: "Yes you can see it, can't you. He is indeed my illegitimate son by an earlier whore. I would be very proud if this kid were my son. I don't think he would be that proud if I were his father. Kid Vegas does in fact have his studio very close to mine. He's a fine specimen of American youth, a role model for sex, drugs and rock n' roll."
G. Ross: "Are you going to fuck the same girls together? How are you going to work this out?"
Bone: "I don't know if he's into sharing that much. He does have a big dick. He puts me to shame. He's been showing me how to smoke crack and how butane lighters work."
G.Ross: "I feel so much better about this relationship the two of you have. Does this suggest that Cream is going to be involved with the Kid Vegas distribution?"
Bone: "Kid Vegas has approached me to handle the distribution. We're in negotiations....there has been a severe disappearance of AK 47's out of the office since he came here. I just want to ride the Kid's coattails."
G. Ross: "I don't know if he can handle that extra load that you'll present on his rear end."
Priscilla Jane writes: "I think that your site is the best and, I love how you put the truth out there in the raw. I wish I could say more but, some people are crazy and I don't need the trouble."
Hans Rudelstein writes: "When you called me about the bust of the BIG TOP VIDEO SHOOT on May 28th I did not know about your website, which seems to be an interesting vehicle to learn about "behind the scenes" info in the adult industry. I read David Christopher's, Robyn Powers and my statements and I strongly feel that my reaction to Powers statements is neccessary, because some of them are flat out lies and an attempt to badmouth me as a person and a professional photographer for mentioning to you that I did not receive payment for my house as a location for her video production.
"This, to me, is an utterly sorry attempt to get back at me for telling the truth and I will have a lawyer look into the possibility to sue her for certain false statements and accusations made against me on your site being public media, if she does not apologize to me on your site: I have been in a business relationship with Robyn Powers since over one year, initially supplying her with photo layouts for XAVIER magazine, approx. a dozen sets before the publication was stopped. I must say that it was a good relationship, initially put together by David Christopher, who I really like as a person and especially to work with, as our common favorite subject are shoots with busty girls.
"There was never even an argument with Robyn, NEVER A COMPLAINT FROM HER TO ME ABOUT ANYTHING UNTIL NOW... She was fun to be around and work went down easy. The calendar shoot took place in a rental studio and a lot of people plus a video crew for a documentary made the space rather tight, but we pulled off our work load anyhow and the calendar seems to be a success as well as the video. What I did not like was the fact that when I asked for a copy of the calendar it was actually mailed to me CASH ON DELIVERY !! How tacky !!
"Robyn states she swore not to hire me again, well, why did she then, could not have been that bad... Now to the shoot that got busted. I had the task to photograph a video box cover with between 8 and 12 busty actresses in PomPom outfits outside and I gave Robyn 2 options of every set up, one with and one without soft effect filter, for the romantic at heart and the ones who like it totally clear, nothing was "blurry" and the softer helped the older actresses' skin to look smoother. Her statement I disappeared repeatedly during the shoot is a flat out lie, I went to a nearby market once during setup for the next scene and was back within 7 minutes.
"I never held up her production. Unfortunately, there were too many people in Robyn's entourage who had nothing to do with the shoot besides being in the way. One of them was a male who later got arrested for possession of illegal drugs. I had never seen that person before. For Robyn Powers to insinuate this guy was my dealer is outrageous !! I quote Robyn Powers: ..."for all we knew he was Hans' dealer" That's the line that will eventually get her in trouble if she does not apologize to me on your site, Gene !!
