TGP.com has entered the public Beta phase, allowing users to contribute to and benefit from what its owner calls “one of the adult Internet’s most valuable URLs.”
Here’s how the system works: Users upload erotic photos and links to their websites or affiliate programs. The photos automatically are placed in a gallery, and surfers who visit the site vote for their favorites. The most popular galleries appear on TGP.com’s home page, thereby generating significant traffic for the originating website.
“TGP.com is the Web’s most thoroughly thought-through adult community blog,” owner Sam Sugar said. “It is—and it pains me to use the phrase—a ‘Web 2.0 application.’
“The site works a lot like Digg, but because the content’s uploaded to our servers, we’re able to protect users from the stuff mainstream community blogs don’t have to worry about: spam, pop-ups, and misdirected links,” he continued. “Most big [thumbnail gallery posts] spend a lot of time filtering content. We give that responsibility and control to our users, so we can handle far more content than [the big TGPs] can, and we don’t have to worry about being in tune with users’ tastes. Their choices determine the look of the site automatically.”
TGP.com is the first big website to offer exhibitionists and models the chance to get instant exposure on a “first-class” website without having to bank on personal relationships or affiliate payments, Sugar avered.
“TGP.com is fair and balanced—but I'm not Bill O’Reilly, so you can trust me when I say it,” he said, winking. “Everyone who uploads has the same chance to be seen and promoted. It’s a huge opportunity for the little guy to get the volume of exposure only big websites can provide.”
